Foundation A

In Foundation A the children have begun learning about 3D shapes. They have been learning to name the shapes and identify the shapes of their faces. The children experimented to find out whether a shape had properties that make it better for building a house. They were interested to find out that cubes and prisms were very useful for building as they were easy to stack. Cylinders were the next best shape for building while cones, pyramids and cylinders were extremely difficult to use for building houses. Some children also noticed that bricks are prisms. Many of the Lego blocks they use to build with are prisms or cubes as well.
